Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

We had a thread but it was like hundreds of pages long and I can't be arsed searching for it anyway.

DAVID VAUGHAN last night confirmed Rangers have made their move to lure him from Blackpool - as Record Sport exclusively revealed three weeks ago.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who is available on a Bosman, is top of Ally McCoist's list of targets as he strives to spend new owner Craig Whyte's cash wisely.

A Welsh internationalist who played against Scotland in the 3-1 Carling Nations Cup clash in Dublin on Wednesday night, Vaughan is also attracting interest from Sunderland, West Brom and Everton.

So McCoist has wasted no time in making his move to snap up the man he sees playing a key role in his engine room, just as we told you on May 3.

Vaughan said: "I know my agent has spoken to Rangers so I just have to take it from there and leave it in his hands.

"It would definitely interest me. Rangers are a massive club and play in the Champions League, so it's an attraction. I'll weigh up all my options."

Vaughan formed a successful partnership with former Gers star Charlie Adam during Blackpool's thrilling season in the English Premier League.

That campaign ultimately ended in last-day relegation heartache as the Seasiders went down fighting against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

But Vaughan's impressive year has earned the former Crewe and Real Sociedad man a lengthy list of admirers.

While he is high on McCoist's list of priorities, the Ibrox summer shake-up began on a low-key note yesterday with the capture of Norwegian twins Tom and Kim Skogsrud from Manchester City.

The 18-year-old defensive duo signed two-year deals after impressing on a trial back in March but are understood to be regarded as prospects for the future rather than ready-made first-team stars.

JOHN MENSAH claims he is a summer target for new Rangers boss Ally McCoist.

The experienced defender has just finished a controversial second loan spell at Sunderland and is due to return to Lyon this summer.

Mensah, who would cost around £1 million, is attracting interest from Greece but is tempted by a possible move to Scotland and a crack at the Champions League.

"It is true that Rangers have expressed interest in John, but we are looking at other offers and taking into consideration the price tag before making a move," Fabien Piveteau, the player's agent, revealed. "We have to sit with John's former club-Lyon for a better deal for both parties, for now, we are just considering some factors before taking the next plan of action.“

The 28-year-old had an injury-hit time at the Stadium of Light and also made unwanted headlines when he was involved in a dressing room bust-up with Nedhum Onuoha after a defeat against Wolves earlier this month.

That saw Sunderland boss Steve Bruce decide not to take up the option to buy Mensah. Rangers are currently looking to add to their central defensive options with captain Davie Weir still to agree an extension and Madjid Bougherra entering the final year of his deal.

Rangers hope to kick-start their transfer activity when McCoist returns from America later this week.

Out-of-contract Scotland star James McFadden is on his radar, along with Blackpool winger Jason Puncheon and the Dundee United pairing of Craig Conway and David Goodwillie.

McCoist also hopes to try and thrash out a deal to keep on-loan Aberdeen defender Ricky Foster and would be keen to take fellow defender Kyle Bartley back from Arsenal.

Can't say I seen much of Mensah but don't like his injury list. Excited by Vaughan though, he has been solid any time I've seen him.

Yeah I'm quite happy about Vaughan, if we can land him that would be a good piece of business. Mensah, I'm not so sure about. If he's injury prone, then he can gtf!

Looks like Cuellar is top of our list for a centre back now. £2m is an absolute steal for a Prem quality centre back if the price quoted is true and he said himself he'd welcome a return.

I'd jizz my pants with Cuellar and Bartley at the back ;|

You've got Wilson on loan again too haven't you?

I see Burke went to Birmingham today, Marlon King is also expected to sign. Looks like McLeish wants to go back up at the first attempt.

The Henderson/Jones moves are ridiculous money but that's just the norm now, it's stupid. Sunderland getting O'Shea, Brown and Gibson for £12m looks to be a steal for them tho. If they get Welbeck on loan again they could do some serious damage next season.

It was rumoured we were getting Wilson back but nothings happened so far.

Aye we haven't got Bartley or Wilson back yet but apparently Wilson deal is a cert, Bartley depends on Wenger.

I so wish we'd go on in for Goodwillie too, I know his court case is a massive problem but I'd hope if that were to pass we'd get him. He'd be available for like £1m-£1.5m which is a steal. He'd be perfect next to Jelavic.

See the dhims are linked with McFadden too, I already despise the cunt - such an overrated player. Wouldn't mind if he signed for them and ate up some wages.

Edit - Fml can't take my self seriously with this sig and avatar.

Edit - We've rejected £300k for Whittaker, embarrassing offer from Bursaspor tbh.

I have nae idea why I'm using this thread, confusing myself.

My only slight worry if we sign Cuellar, Bartley and Wilson are we going to be playing 5 at the back?

I don't think Arsenal or Pool want to send players out on loan who won't play. What if we don't even sell Boogie it will be the loanees that will drop out.

Imagine Cuellar and Boogie at the back with Wilson and Bartley waiting in the wings :[wank]: :[wank]:

I reckon we'll still go with the back 3/5 in Europe so would really need 3 of them for that and I think Wilson may have played left back for Liverpool the odd appearance he got? I'm not sure Boughie will stay if he is out of contract next season, I'd be a bit gutted if he did stay and left for nowt. Get him sold for £1.5m or something, he has became a bit of a liability of late and his disappearing acts are infuriating.

Best transfer rumour I've ever heard is Jose Enrique to Barcelona. I kid you not.

Marcos Senna is discussing a contract with Swansea as we speak... this time last year he narrowly missed out on a World Cup place with Spain, now he's looking to take a big pay cut just for a season in the Premier League.

I thought the link was press bs, but he is actually talking to us

Villarreal maybe offering him a new contract, so they say on SSN.

We have an Israeli on here don't we? We're seemingly close to signing Tomer Hemed, he looks a decent player so I'm hopeful of that on a bosman. Also close to signing Neil Danns from Palace, again I don't know much about him.

Probably one of our best players last season behind Nathanial Clyne. A real work horse in midfield and loves to bomb forward and contributes with a good couple of goals aswell. There is never a game where he doesn't give 100%, however he is often liable to the odd red card now and again due to his over the top challenges as he wants to gain possession back straight away.

Always expected it tbh, depends if his desire to play Premiership football overrules his desire for money tbh. He's spoken to us already and he's got a choice to make.

35 so might be his last chance to play Premiership, though I'm surprised we're the only ones wanting him at this level...

Alan Hutton apparently released by Spurs.

Us, Villa and Sunderland all wanting him. No way we could match his wages but I'd seriously jizz my pan in if we got him and Cuellar.

Where did you hear that? I can't find any rumors about him. They'd be daft if they did 'cause didn't they refuse a £7m offer from Sunderland at the end of the season?

Good young keeper out of work: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11096_7060743,00.html

Anyone been reading these? Great insight into what happens to free agents and how they get a new club. Kinda puzzled as to why YMK was released but I know other targets are in mind, just nothing was said officially, this is how I found out

Don't alarm bells start to ring when you're touting yourself around on Sky Sports? He needs a new agent, and fast.
