General Football

Recommended Posts

This is where you shove anything that doesn't really require a topic of its own or doesn't fit anywhere else.

Like that fact that Jersey are now speaking with UEFA to see if they can start playing international football.

Approx Transfer Totals

Prem - £1.1 billion
Serie A - £590mil
Bundes - £460mil...
La Liga - £400mil
Champs - £215mil
Ligue 1 - £165mil

Total (Approx) - 2.93 billion

Surely this highlights the need for a transfer cap?

Depends which way you look at it. What will the clubs do with all that excess money if there is a cap? It'll just be sat there doing nothing or in the pockets of the owners?

Or set a cap, but allow clubs to force others to go over it by hoiking prices for their players but if that happens then the money above the cap goes into a fund to help struggling clubs.

So di Canio got himself in a bit of bother then. Not a wise tattoo to display

What was the tattoo?

It was a tattoo that was "supposed" to refer to Mussolini, it was the latin word Dux on his arm, which means leader, or God, and is what Mussolini referred to himself as.

Onto happier things, AIK in Sweden replaced their normal mascots with OAPs who were club members to repay their loyalty. Fair play

And it seems as though Serge Aurier is "going out his way" to "destroy" his own career with the latest in a series of incidents for the PSG player. He has been sentenced to 2 months in jail following an incident in a nightclub in May where he elbowed a police officer. Despite this he is expected to be available for selection for PSG in their next CL game.

Sam Allardyce is on the brink of being sacked as England manager.

Allardyce was pushed closer to the exit door after being summoned to Wembley for crisis talks with FA chiefs.

And it is understood that Allardyce will struggle to survive the grilling over the undercover sting by the Daily Telegraph.

Former Sunderland boss Allardyce's remarks about bending the FA's rules on third party ownership are particularly damning.

One lawyer suggested to the Mirror Sport that there is enough grounds for dismissal.

Yeah, he hasn't technically done anything wrong but the remarks about third party ownership and the fact that he is in the position he is in could well leave the FA in a position where they are left with no option but to dismiss. Especially with Football being in the spotlight at the moment.

To be fair, his win percentage probably won't be matched by any future manager you get. He's set the line pretty high :P

Well allegedly, this is what Eurosport have tweeted, and they have said that it is just speculation at this point too. But there is a suggestion, not saying there is any truth in it, that Enner Valencia faked an injury in a recent international match to escape waiting police who were waiting to arrest him for owed money. That is the rumour anyway.

Yeah I heard that, he owed child support money or something but managed to sneak out of the stadium or some shit.
