Quote

The United States is bracing itself for the first Atlantic hurricane to hit since 2007 bringing 120mph winds, tornadoes and a 12ft storm surge.

More than three million people have been evacuated from Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina as the United States prepares for Hurricane Matthew to hit.

The biggest storm in a century will bring 120mph winds, tornadoes and a 12ft storm surge.

At least 339 people have already been killed as Matthew swept through Haiti, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas.

The storm passed by one of the biggest cities in the area Miami - but is still on course to hit around 26 million people.

President Obama has signed a state of emergency for Georgia, Florida and South Carolina mobilising thousands of National Guard troops.

It's pretty bad but they're used to it. Got some of the family I married into living there and they are taking precautions but life goes on. Same here for Tornado season, and earthquakes for other family in LA. Part of life so people just largely act as if it isn't going to hit them too bad.

Aye, I got a mate living in Florida, Miami to be precise and she was preparing to get the hell out last I spoke. The thing is, places that are "used to it" are prepared and have action plans but when we have weather that is even a tiny bit worse than normal all hell breaks loose and people panic.

That's true, the country grinds to a halt with barely an inch of snow.
