The Summer Transfer Thread 2018

Recommended Posts

Think it makes sense to have one for the confirmed transfers in world football - no rumours, only confirmed deals.

Liverpool getting business done early after their Champions League win by getting Fabinho in is a signal of intent!

Real Madrid have beaten Liverpool, PSG and Barcelona to secure the signature of Rodrygo Goes, according to the Santos forward’s agent Nick Arcuri.

Madrid have reached an agreement with Santos to sign the teenager, who will move to the Bernabeu next summer.

The European champions will pay Santos €40m for 80% of Rodrygo’s rights – the remaining 20% belongs to the player himself, who will give up some of the money he is owed – and the total cost of the deal will be €45m.

Speaking to Esporte Interativo, the 17-year-old’s representative Arcuri revealed that Madrid had seen off competition from three other European clubs to land the youngster.

He said: “We had offers from Liverpool, PSG, Barcelona, but they did not reach what Santos asked for. Fifteen days ago, Madrid came behind me, they met with the president and made their proposal, reaching the value that Santos always wanted. Last week, the player did his medical exams with a Spaniard after Santos gave the green light. The agreement is that he stays [at Santos] until June 30, 2019.”

Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo 😮

Wolves get Rui Patricio then - not sure if there is a fee, but if it is on a free, then that HAS to pave the way for the other players wanting out of Sporting on a free too... Could be some serious talent going for nothing...

I think there is about 8 of them who have left but Sporting are going through the courts about it I read somewhere. Something to do with them having no legal ground for it.

West Ham have spent close to £30m on Issa Diop and Lukas Fabiannski.

Arsenal have signed Bernd Leno for about £22m (Bye bye Petr Cech!)

Moncao continue to invest heavily in youth, spending £18m on 16 year old striker Willem Geubbels from Lyon

Leicester have confirmed the signing of James Maddison from Norwich.

The 21-year-old has signed a five-year contract and joins for an undisclosed fee, thought to be £22million rising to £24m if add-ons are reached.

Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber said: "Obviously we’re disappointed to lose a player of James’s quality and character but, with our financial position well-documented, in the end it was too good an offer to turn down."

I'm interested to see if he makes the step up - tore the Championship up last year though...

Inter Milan have confirmed that they’ve agreed a deal to sign Radja Nainggolan from Roma.

Inter’s Sporting Director Piero Ausilio has told the club’s website “The conditions have been met for a deal for Radja Nainggola.  He is a top player.  Everything will be made official tomorrow (Tuesday) and then we will say something more.”

The 30 year-old passed his medical yesterday according to Sky Italia and reports suggest that the fee will be around £21m.

Good signing that, surprised the fee is that small too really.

Inter have chucked in 2 players aswell. Santon and someone else. Probably makes up for the lack of cash.

Yeah fair point, although i don't rate Santon or Zaniolo that highly though, so can't have added much more in terms of value :D

AC Milan getting Halilovic for free and Fiorentina getting Lafont for £8m is mental. Those two really slipped under the radar and i think some big clubs will be paying big money for each of them in the future.

In terms of Northampton - VERY quiet on the transfer front for us, only one singing in Andy Williams from Doncaster  - a striker who didn't score a goal last season... 😕

I'm sure things will pick up for you soon, they inevitably do in the lower leagues. The big teams sort themselves out and then we can pick away at those deemed surplus to requirements and get some good loans/cheapies in.

Oxford have had an up and down summer, looking as follows:

Transfers In:
Tony McMahon - Bradford (Free): Good, experienced signing for us. Got a lot of assists in League One last season, and we did need a reliable right-back seeing as we have been relying on loans for a while now (and Todd Kane doesn't look ike joining full-time from Chelsea!)
Luke Garbutt - Everton (Loan): Another really good signing for us, so much experience already and should have enough quality to hold our left-back position all season. We finally look strong in both full-back positions now.
Samir Carruthers - Sheffield United (Loan): Once absolutely bossed League One when at MK Dons a few years back. Stepped up a division and it hasn't worked out. If he regains his form, we could be on for a good season despite losing our two best centre midfielders.
Cameron Norman - King's Lynn (Free): Young right back who probably won't be starting to many games but made some serious waves in non-league. In February he has 9 goals and 22 assists to his name (i'm not sure if that went up by the end of the season, but still!)

Transfers Out:
Ryan Ledson - Preston (£900k): One of the 'big two' along with Rothwell. A fairly good fee for him though. I'm hopeful Cameron Branagan can fill the void - he started to look like he could towards the end of last season.
Joe Rothwell - Blackburn (Undisclosed): I'm hoping Samir Carruthers covers this loss. Not as big a loss as Ledson as Rothwell was injured a fair bit, but still. If Carruthers or Branagan are injured though, we look like we lack a bit of depth.
Kane Hemmings - Notts County (Undisclosed): never really worked out for him at Oxford. Did ok on loan at Mansfield last year though so i expect him to do the same for Notts County in League Two.
Aaron Martin - Exeter City (Undisclosed): MEH

The chairman has said he expects another 7 or 8 in so watch this space!!
